Police Move In, Break Up Gaza Protest At USF

TAMPA -- University police and other law enforcement officers are moving in to break up a pro-Palestinian tent protest over the war in Gaza, at the University of South Florida campus in Tampa.

They've begun tossing tear gas canisters and demonstrators are seen fleeing the scene, after police declared the assembly unlawful. Officers were seen on bicycles pursuing fleeing protesters.

About 50 students have been gathered around a tent with umbrellas and plywood. Police broke up a similar demonstration at USF Monday and made three arrests.

Governor DeSantis has warned students they will be expelled if they engage in unsanctioned protests, saying "pro-Hamas insanity" will not be allowed in Florida. He's encouraging students fearful because of protests at other universities to transfer to Florida schools.
