(Miami, Fl) -- The National Hurricane Center in Miami is monitoring a system of showers and thunderstorms churning in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa.

The disturbance is becoming better organized and forecasters say there's a 90% chance for further development possibly into a tropical depression or Tropical Storm Bret over the next day or so.

It is forecast to move westward at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic with further development through the middle part of the week.

For now, forecasters do not expect the system to affect Florida or the U.S. mainland at all.
