SARASOTA -- A company that builds custom yachts and fishing boats just got hit by a major burglary.
Manatee deputies say an employee of Yellowfin Boats on 18th Street East went to check on the business Monday, as it was closed over the weekend. He found the overhead door open. Deputies say the crooks used the company's own forklift to haul several Mercury and Yamaha boat engines out the door. They also pried over several cabinets full of marine electronics. The total haul is more than $400,000, plus a stolen flatbed truck that was recovered Tuesday at a nearby business.
