Hilary Duff Slams 'Disgusting' Child Trafficking Twitter Rumor

Hilary Duff found herself trending on Twitter on Saturday (May 23) when a number of users made some shocking child trafficking claims based on a recent post from the actress. In a since-deleted Instagram Story, the star's son, Luca Cruz, 8, appeared to be laying down in the nude and the photo — unsurprisingly — caused an uproar.

"Everyone bored af right now I know..but this is actually disgusting," the Lizzie McGuire alum, 32, said of the accusations on Twitter. "Whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby."

Meanwhile, the star's rep issued a statement to E! News about the claims. "Let me say this in the strongest terms, this is all a fabricated disgusting internet lie, created and perpetuated by trolls and idiots. Hilary's own post this morning is all that needs to be said on the matter," the statement read. "Everyone who knows Hilary is fully aware what an amazing mom she is and that requires no further comment. If only people with this much time on their hands used their energy to solve real problems in the world."

Duff is a proud mother to her son whom she shared with ex-husband Mike Comrie. She is also a mother to daughter, Banks Violet, 1, with husband Matthew Koma.
