Family Members Reflect Three Years After Nightclub Massacre

The mother of a Pulse shooting victim is remembering her daughter, three years after a gunman went on a shooting spree inside the Orlando nightclub.

Amanda Alvear was one of the 49 people murdered in 2016.

Her mother, Mayra, says hate cannot be defeated by more hate so she is showing "that love is better than hate." While outside the shuttered nightclub this week, Alvear said she chooses to remember her daughter's life and laughter, rather than the way she died.

Today, 400 churches across the country will ring their bells to honor the victims.

A remembrance ceremony will be held tonight at the interim memorial, featuring local elected officials, Pulse survivors, and the first responders.
