Pope Francis Appoints Miami's Auxiliary Bishop to New Mexico

Miami's auxiliary bishop is packing his bags.

The announcement was made in a press release from the Archdiocese of Miami this morning.

The Pope has appointed Bishop Peter Baldacchino as the third bishop of the Diocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Originally from Malta, the 58-year-old came to the Archdiocese of Miami back in 2014.

Bishop-designate Baldacchino is the 10th auxiliary bishop to serve in the Archdiocese of Miami and the first bishop in the United States from the Neocatechumenal Way.

He'll be fully appointed in July.
