Stores forced closed Friday, online and app orders were disrupted in countries as far apart as Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
"We are aware of a technology outage, which impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved," McDonald's (MCD) said in a statement to CNN.
At the same time, customers are chiming in on a branding change, where the company's famous golden arches are now flipped, from an M to a W.
